Why — the first-principles explanation
Underneath, Grok is the same kind of machine as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini: a large language model trained to predict the next chunk of text across an enormous pile of writing. What makes a chatbot feel distinct isn't usually the math — it's three choices the company makes on top of it: what data it sees, what it's allowed to say, and what it's plugged into.
